I have both the phosphate (k coating?) carbon, stamped p226 as well as the nitron coated stainless milled slide. The nitron coating, by far, is superior at keeping rust at bay.. Ive taken both sigs out to the desert and- by the time I'm home, if I don't wipe down the phosphate sig, there will sometimes be rust spots..

The sig in the video looks chewed up, but it looks mostly like holster wear.. I just hope the internals are cleaned and the rails are greased.. Other than that, the damage looks mostly cosmetic..

For any Sig, the frame is the key point to observe.. It's anodized aluminum.. If you wear through the anodizing, you're screwed.. I now ALWAYS use grease on the rails.. Oil is better than nothing but Sig and the best Sig smiths recommend grease..

Thank you very much for info again guys. I appreciate it.

Voo, what's the difference between grease and oil? I picked up Hoppes Lube, is that considered to be grease? Sorry. Still a noob and you are a secod person to mention that

Oil runs. Grease stays in place. Oil evaporates after a while too.

I used to use oil on my Sigs (frame rails). That was a big mistake. I noticed wears and chips on my new P226. Now I use grease.

I use Slide Glide, medium viscosity. Some people use Weapon Shield.

Everything you want to know about how to lube a Sig but are afraid to ask.

My old p6 doesn't show any rust even though the bluing is almost gone. Hey panda I love the avatar. Check out this bumper sticker for a local forum here in nm. I rock one on my jeep.

I like grease on my firearms for sure, no oil.

I also like Panda bears- BBQed or baked. Just kidding, but I do love Panda Express.

Very cool. Pandas are very interesting, and beautiful animals. They look so cute and cuddly, but could rip Your head off and **** down Your throat if it wanted to.

Lol thinking about using this quote as my signature.

Anyways, do you have any suggestions how to lube the inside of the barrel ?
I can't find a single video showing it. I heard that it's very precise.

I'd be honored for You to use it as Your signature. I have always just ran a patch soaked in tetra oil, and then a dry patch, and called it good.

Ok. So basically the same principle as cleaning using te solvent.

Inside the barrel? Do you mean the bore? Or just the barrel on the outside?

You do not lube the bore. Run a patch with solvent through it. Use polymer or brass brush through it. Never scrub. Dry with another patch.

I do lube the outside of the barrel. I put a thin film of Slide Glide on the outside where the "smilie" is and other discolored parts.

Sigfan91's post to Sigforum is spot on.. Scott and Bruce are the top sigsmiths in the nation (if not the best). Scott's now with Apex (with R. Lee) but I wouldn't hesitate sending work to him or Bruce at Grayguns.

As far as the grease goes, it stays put better as well as reducing the speed of the slide..That's why you'll see the heavier greases being used... This keeps the anodizing from wearing as fast by reducing the slide movement as well as keeping gunk suspended and away from the rails...

The thing with the anodizing is that once it wears, you really can't re-anodize to factory spec.. I believe there are some companies that will do it, but it requires the old anodizing to be "removed".. Removing the old anodizing and then reanodizing changes the dimensions of the gun.. If you look at the rails, they're not very thick to begin with.. I think* this was Scott's explanation to me years ago..

People swear by oil and that's fine, but I'll take the recommendation of Bruce and Scott over most people any day of the week when it comes to Sig guns and their maintenance..

Correct. I think You can actually polish a bore, thats rusted. I didn't watch the entire video, but all I seen was holster wear on it. I had a mosin that rusted up. I just fired 60 or 80 rounds through it, and it knocked the rust right off. I cleaned it and ran some patches with oil, then some dry patches. It looked just like it does when You buy them from aim or big 5. I wonder if that is what the importers do to make the bores nice n shiny. I have thought about running a patch with flitz on it through a bore that was rusted, but I found out shooting kinda polishes bores. I would knock the rust off of that p226 by shooting it. Buy a spring kit, and dura or cerracoat and throw the glock in the trash lol.
