    Best Dummy rounds?

While I wait 7 more days in jail, I figured it'd be a good time to purchase some dummy rounds as it's my first handgun. The thing I noticed though when poking around, is that no one really mentioned a superb manufacture.

I heard Azoom snap caps were good, but after 25 cycles or so the metla would be worn and you'd have shavings in your barrel. Heard the plastic ones don't always load properly and jam.

I've also read about some from Brownells.com and letargets.com, but again, no one really said much about them.

Any suggestions? I can order online, or go to any store in Northern LA county. Thanks folks.

Doh. Those looks pretty sweet, thanks. However, I should have mentioned I need 9mm rounds which are currently sold out.

I haven't had that many problems with the Tipton brand. As the original poster noted the Azoom tend to get chewed up. I've found that they will gouge more than the Tiptons, eventually causing more feed failures. I've used Tiptons in XD. EMP, Beretta and HK. I've seen small brass particles being shaved off but a blast of air takes care of that.

I like the elastic primer section of the Azooms more than the spring loaded primers of the Tiptons. the latter gets dented as the firing pin hits them. Ideally, I'd put the elastic primers in the Tiptons.

If we are talking revolvers, Azooms are great. You don't have to worry about the gouging of the rims, and when you open the cylinder and see Azoom on the base, you've got a pretty good idea you've got snap caps loaded.

Finally, I found Azooms for my shotgun (20 ga) but not Tiptons.
And Tiptons make some "snap caps" for .22 where Azoom has some action testers, but not snap caps. And those Tiptons are .22 short. A big pain, but cheap.

There is no perfect solution that I've been able to find. Good luck in your search.

Cool, maybe I'll just turners when I pick up my firearm and go from there. I guess I probably won't need them to last forever, so maybe Azoom's will do.

            Good luck.

Unless you settle for the spring loaded plastic POS's, everyone is on backorder on 9mm.

                I use A-zoom in 9mm, .40 x 2, .45 and 12 gauge shot gun... never a problem with any of them...

I've never used another brand in any of the pistols (only because I've never come across any locally) - but I tried some plastic pos 12 gauge from Big-5, they were junk and jammed every time, took 'em back after one day and went to Turners for A-zoom.

The shotgun snap caps do get pretty beat up - but only minor scratches (anodizing comes off in select areas) - but that hasn't happened with any of the pistol snap caps.

I need to get some 7.62x39 now... I just looked at the Action Trainer version linked above - they don't have any if I didnt already have so many A-zoom, I'd get some of those in other calibers...

I'm not a big fan of this, simply due to the possibility (probability) of confusing live ammo with the dummies.

I've been using the A-zooms with no problems. The paint on the rim of the cartridge wears off eventually but I haven't seen any shavings or anything like that.

I've also never had a problem with A-zooms. The finish comes off after usage but mine still function flawlessly and there are absolutely no shavings that others report.

That's okay... you scooped us on the a-zooms.

I just cleaned out the Chino Hills WM of WWB 9mm 100rd value packs.

I didn't intend to. I walked in intending to buy 4 boxes.
They were low... the guys in front of me bought one or two.
I asked for 4. Guy bagged them along with a couple of other items and I paid my $144.

On the way out, I looked at the receipt (and I never do that).
He charged me for FIVE boxes.
I went back and he was tied up on the phone in at auto service desk. One of the other guys looked at the receipt, checked the remaining box, realized the guy was going to be "a while", and handed me the 5th box.
