    Which RIA 1911?

So I have figured out at this point that I want an RIA 1911, but due to the extreme lack of useful information on the website, and the local shops not having either in stock at the moment, I don't know what model I want. From what i understand, its kind of hard to go wrong with either. What exactly does the tactical model bring to the table that the regular (GI ? ) lacks? Don't think i would want the target version, barrel looks to be too long. The only requirements I have are it has to be full size, (5 inch barrel?) and a single stack mag. Thanks for the help!

The tactical has: better sights. the front sight is dove tailed into the gun (unlike the GI), a beaver tail grip safety, ambi safety, and a different hammer. And there is probably more things.
There are a lot of things on the tactical that are not on the GI fs version.

If you want a decent starter 1911 the gi and tactical RIA's are good guns.

So i understand this correctly, the front sight of the tactical is dovetailed, meaning it can be changed out and is more secure than the front sight on the GI which is just pressed in?

I dont think you can go wrong with the tactical model.

Meets all your requirements and then some!

In addition to the other differences listed, the tactical also has the skeleton trigger.

Get the tactical, it is well the the small price difference.

              I love my RIA tactical.

GI model is offered at 370.00 on line
Target model is offered at $420 on line

For $50 you get improved sights, trigger and hammer....I don't think thats bad for $50.

My tactical is in the mail, after which it goes into jail for ten days and then I get to try it out.

I did consider the Match, but its about $170 more if available and most places could not find one. For that you get an improved sites, hand selected parts for improvements, and the front strap is etched with a grip pattern. That, for $170, I figured I didn't need even though the hand selected work sounded intriguing. If someone had - had one I might have gone that route. As it is - I'd rather have 6 good magazines.

My Tactical is three years old, some minor problems early on, but all is good now. I know when I got mine the big item for me in the dif between the G.I. and Tactical was a better trigger. And they did deliver, it's the best out of the box trigger I have ever used. Upgrading to the Tactical is well worth it.

                        Here is another RIA seller.
