Quick question: will every DOJ approved safe fit a full size handgun like the Sig 226 or Beretta M9?

I've got the Stack On with the shelf....and it fits my M&P full size, like 3 magazines and around 250 rounds of boxed ammo...plenty of room..

So I have a question: If you keep the cable lock on the gun all the time, does it really matter if the safe is DOJ approved?My Guns:

????? The cable lock is a semi-common sense thing that lets you take possession of the pistol when you leave the gun store, per Federal law. A California approved safe gets you around the requirement to buy a new cable lock when buying a long gun, not a hand gun.*REMOVE THIS PART BEFORE POSTING*Comment

No. There are no storage requirements for guns in CA, though there may be issues if a minor gains access to your gun and Something Bad happens.
However, that cable lock has no value whatsoever for transport. It's a requirement imposed on FFLs by both state and Federal law that the gun cannot leave the FFL's hands without a lock/safety device.
