    Glock23C

    Hey guys! I'm a Calguns.net virgin! =)

You need to break me in a bit. hahahahah!

I was thinking about getting a Glock 23C. What do you guys think about this compensated version?

Also, I was looking through budsgunshop.com and there are multiple versions. I've read through the DOJ roster and see the 23C, but I'm unsure of the correct model that's legal here in CA. What I see are these models and I'm aiming for the Adjustable Sight one in bold: (PI2359201 10-Rnd Fixed Sights, PI23591 10-Rnd Adj. Sights or PI2359401 10-Rnd Steel Fixed Sights).

here is the link to the page as well. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/a...ords=glock+23C

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks fellas!

Any Glock you get will run forever. It may help to figure out what you want it for. Competition: G34,G35,G24,G17L. Carry: G26.G27.G30,G16,G19,G23,G32. Hunting: G20. Casual use: G17, G22 or a G21 if you like .45acp. If there are too many choices for a newbie, then get a G17. It's the most versatile model and the top ends are interchangeable. The learn how to shoot a pistol by taking at least basic and intermediate handgun. In the end you can never have too many Glocks....

      Hey Highlander,

Thanks for the recommendations. I have 2 Springfield Armory .45's, which I love with a passion and I also have a Sig 9mm. So, I think 9mm's and .45's are out of the picture.

I'm really starting to like the Glock 23C and I never had a .40 cal before, so I think I'm going for the G23. Do you have any thoughts on the compensated model?

        Highlander gives good advice.!.

As a GLOCK FREAK myself....a compensated 23 is a waste of money. It does little in the way of reducing felt recoil. If you shoot a normal 23 and a C version blindfolded you wouldn't know the difference.

On the downside, you have a 'Flaming Dirt' problems with these pistols that direct the blast UP into your field of view; so follow up shots can be difficult.

Also if the wind is just right, that blast gets in your face. (particles of powder and smoke in your eyes).....

The normal GLOCK 23 runs perfect the way it is.

        Be well

Nice! Thanks for the input Oceanbob...

I heard about that concussion/blowback/flaming dirt issue with the G23C and wouldn't be a good carry/home defense weapon, but the barrel can be changed to a non-ported one right?

You can easily run a normal barrel (or aftermarket in 9MM or .357SIG) and the problem becomes moot.

            Have fun!

Forgot to add that generally speaking you would choose the largest frame you can manage(handle) in a caliber that you are most comfortable with, with good sights and a reasonable trigger. This could be a 1911 in 9mm, or a G21 in .45acp. The smaller frame guns generate more recoil for the same caliber. A S&W J frame air weight is much more brutal to shoot than a G20 in 10mm.

I have a G23 as a carry gun, and a G24C as one of my competition guns. A ported G23 is a waste of money, plus if you ever decide to shoot competition, it would put you in Open Division for USPSA, and is not allowed at all in IDPA. If you really are set on a 40S&W, go for the G35. And you can still never have too many Glocks...

              Well, maybe 10 is enough.
