    1911 double feed issues...HELP

Just came back from the range and my SA Loaded 1911 had a few feeding problems. The gun has about 1000 rounds throught it and this is the first time its jammed this many times in an outing. It jammed about 4-5 times with 150 rounds. The jams were all double feeds. I really dont think the ammo was the issue (Winchester and Blazer FMJ's) and I wasnt using new mags either. Any advice on what the issue could be?

    Check the ejector/spring?

Double feeds...as in two loaded cartridges at the same time? or a "failure to extract" or a "failure to eject" of the fired case prior to feeding the next loaded cartridge?

one round in the chamber and one right behind it, half way out of the mag and in the gun...if that makes any sense.

My GI just had a FTF problem after about 1000+ rounds.
I striped, cleaned and oiled/greased everything, replaced the factory 16 lb recoil spring with a Wolff 16.5 lb. spring and now once again, both factory and my reloaded ammo function fine.
Springs are cheap, so a easy place to start when troubleshooting, IMHO

I think it very generous of JRJCP to offer to look at your problem...take him up on it.

              Sounds like a faulty extractor

Ditto GW on the gunked up or faulty extractor. I'd also check the mag, cracks on the back that allow the lips to flex outward.
