    Springfield 1911 EMP 9mm

What is the differences in the frame. I am interested in getting on but I haven't been able to locate one locally to hold.
Is it the exact same frame a regular Springfield 1911 loaded? My concern is fit.
I dont have large hands and I love my 9mm SA
    Any feedback would be wonderful.

The frame is significantly smaller... search 9mmepiphany's EMP thread.

Not the same, the grip is smaller around than a standard 1911 and the upper part of the pistol itself is shorter from the rear of the frame to the breechface. It may not seem like much but if you have smaller hands you'll really feel the difference. I have large hands (the CZ 97 fits me well) and the back end of the EMP kind of disappears into them with a two handed grip. With smaller hands you should be able to get a fuller hold on the gun, I think you'll really notice the difference.

The only gun store I can think of nearby is the San Jose Gun Exchange - I visited last Saturday, didn't notice one there, but I know they can get one. City Arms in Pacifica probably has one.

Does anyone have a picture of the EMP next to a full size or commander 1911?

Sorry, don't have an internet photo account, and I don't want one either.

The grip of the EMP is slightly thinner, and the distance front to back is slightly thinner.

Here's what I measured with a Smith & Wesson Govt size vs an EMP

            EMP Smith
            Grip Width 1.1" 1.3"
Grip Depth 1.9" 2.0" (Measured front to back, just below the grip safety)
            Trigger Reach 2.66" 2.76"

That trigger reach was measuring from the from the grip safety (depressed) to the surface of the trigger.

In terms of putting all those measurements together, I wear a size large glove. My index finger's 1st joint can reach the trigger guard on the EMP. On the Smith, the front of its trigger guard is about a 1/3 inch further away.

For me, the trigger reach feels better for my hand on the full size 1911. But if you feel you have small hands, it should be a great fit.

I love my EMP. Remember though, the gun does not have interchangeable parts with other 1911. It is designed around the 9mm, not a 45 shimmed like others. Very accurate and light.

I have large hands and my EMP fits me great. It also feels great with standard width grips too.

Not completely true. Some of the parts are interchangeable

Here is a list of parts that are not-
the 15 re-engineered parts in the EMP:
                  slide
                  frame
                  left grip panel
                  right grip panel
                  firing pin
                  firing pin spring
                  extractor
                  plunger tube
                  plunger spring
                  trigger
                  magazine tube
                  magazine follower
                  magazine spring
                  magazine base plate

I love my EMP. I think it's the perfect CCW choice for anyone that likes the 1911 format. As stated before, it's considerably smaller and lighter than a standard 1911. Also very accurate. I've seen them at Cordova Shooting Center, and at T.D.S. in Rocklin.

I have the EMP 9 and I love it. I carry it often. Now I trade off between the Dan Wesson CCO and the EMP. Both great guns.

EMP on top of my Dan Wesson CCO that has 4.25" barrel and officers size grip.

Target Masters in Milpitas still has the same EMP that's been sitting there for months unsold. If you can't find anything closer around you, that'd would be one choice if you're just looking to hold one. I think they might even have one for rent if I remember right but don't quote me on that.
