    Kimber 1911 SIS?

I did a search, but it came back with pretty much every thread on here. I'm trying to figure out if the Kimber 1911 SIS .45 is legal in CA? I know I remember seeing these in the gun store, but never got one. The part that raises the question is that it does not have a firing pin saftey. I'm not 100% up to date on the laws (99% of my stuff is pre-ban).

Anyone who could shed some light on this subject, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

the california safe handgun roster (aka "the roster" or "drop test list" or "the list") applies to any firearm being transferred to a non-exempt buyer from an FFL.

off roster pistols can enter the state via a few methods,
      • Purchase by exempt person such as LEO
      • Imported by someone moving into California
      • Transferred to a CA resident from an out of state child/parent/grandparent as Intrafamilial Gift.
      • Purchased in CA through the Single Shot Exemption.

Once the pistol is here in CA, the roster does not apply to PPTs, so you can legally purchase the firearm from someone in CA who has one, or you can use one of the methods to import it here yourself.

There is a thread here on the pistol forum which contains the pertinent information for the single shot exemption.

This would be coming from either Texas or Washington.

your best bet is to try to contact one of the 07FFLs that are doing single shots, see if they can work with you.

just be aware there is a lot of demand for off roster guns from this small group of dealers, so be patient.
