    Passed on a 3" M66 last year at $625. Didn't know what it was.

      Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

        That's a great price...the Model 65 and 13 3"-ers are also very popular...they don't command the near $1k prices that the 66's do, but I think they are better carry guns...

        (I actually prefer my 3" Model 64 in .38 special)

            Depends on the model. I have two really rare 3" 66 models. The first was a lew horton Limted with 300 made. Performance Center marked, full tuned action...

            The Second is even more rare, again, 1 of 300, it was called the "Super K". Special contoured Factory ported barrel, again, Poly Ivory grips, Performance Center Marked and full tune with trigger stop...

            TURNING and turning in the widening gyre
            The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
            Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
            Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
            The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
            The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
            The best lack all conviction, while the worst
            Are full of passionate intensity.

              cudakid, I'm liking those walnut grips on the lew horton. Who makes them? And yeah I'm very happy with my 3" 66.

                  While I agree, the 3" are quite uncommon and tend to bring higher $$$.

                    Um...remember they are off list. I paid $800 for my Lew Horton and $1200 for my Super K! I have seen the Super K sell for $1500+!

                    Check out the thread here...

                    Acquired a very nice, unfired, S&W Performance Center, model 66-4 today.:D The revolver is equiped with a 3" barrel, round butt, white grips w/S&W emblem. Firing pin is on the hammer, and no lock! Can anyone help with the DOB? Product code #170090, Serial #LHN000x. Thanks
