    New Performance Center Wheelie

6-1/2" Model 29 "American Pride" distributor special.

Should I shoot it or make it a safe queen?

    Enjoy:

Beautiful gun from the frame back.
Love the grips and unfluted cylinder.

Can't really say much positive about the barrel's contours, though.

Not sure how hyper-collectible this'll be given PC weirdness these days. I think it'd be safe to shoot some without infringing on its value.

If it were an NIB 1970s P&R blue-blued 6.5" 29, that's a different story. I don't think some of these PC guns will get to this status, however.

Being a PC gun, I'd bet the trigger on it is as smooth as glass though!

            Nice!
I had the same dilemma when I won my NRA 460.
I say shoot it at least once.

Shoot it, you will have to wait 10-20 years before it would reach any kind of collectible status.

Do what I did with my 627PC: send it to Randy Lee at Apex Tactical in San Luis Obispo. He'll send you back a spurless hammer and a DAO trigger pull of 4-5 pounds, smooth as silk.

Safe queen! Is it nice? Yes. But like Bill said, the pretty part of that gun excludes the barrel. That barrel profile and gawd-awful front sight just ruins it for me.

Put a bag over it, and then shoot it maybe?

Sorry, just not my cup of tea. And I've been wishing for a nice revolver for a while now.

It came with a second (optional) normal front sight with a gold pin on it too. The orange light pipe optic works too well to take off though. The part I like best, besides the unfluted cylinder, is the angled underlug that the other PC guns often have.

The biggest thing about this piece is the fact that it is not a project to never be finished. PC really takes care of the details and the action feels 'right'.

btw, I'm not overly concerned about collector value..I just don't want to clean it.

                      Very beautiful!

'Em PC guns really shows what S&Ws can do... I got rid of all my modern "regular" S&Ws and acquired S&W PCs in almost every caliber - 9mm, .357, .41, .44, .460, and .500. It's not that "regular" S&Ws are not nice... It's just that PC guns are my preference... They are that nice!

                      Congrats again!
                      Thanks, Ernie

I am sure it handles like a dream, the angled underlug isn't too bad but my preference (visually, not a wheelgunner myself) is a full lug. It's got that funny dip though across the top of the barrel.

Is that a scope mount? For the love of God, is it removable?

Perfect from the frame back. Try out the gold bead front sight... if it's the same as the one on the PC 627, it's a great sight IMO. I don't care for the angled underlug (again, the PC627 has it too), but the "dip" caused by what looks like a scope mount is just killing it.

See? You're turning into a wheelgun fan.
