    Glock Gen 4 question...

I have heard that the California DOJ will not approve the Glock 4th generation because it will still fire after the magazine has been dropped. Does this mean that Glocks will eventually no longer be available in CA, or will Glock make a Gen 4 with a special safety component that satisfies the DOJ?

They also need a Loaded Chamber Indicator. From what I have heard Glock is not willing to put up with CADOJ's BS and will not make a CA Compliant Pistol for us. So your best bet is to get one as a Single Shot Exemption or buy from an LEO if you cannot get one form a Intrafamily Transfer.

I paid $615 OTD for my Gen 4 G19 and I love it, the new recoil spring setup is sweet.

But how would one lock a mag-release on a Glock? Is there a kit or something?

I do not know the answer to that, I was given my Glock and performed the Safe Gun Handling test with it and then left with it. Came back a few minutes later to have some "gunsmithing" done to it and I received a fully functional firearm. I would like to know how they did it too, but I am just as happy to have my Gen 4 G19

It's a mag disconnect. Not a mag lock. Meaning that it disconnects the trigger so that the gun can't be fired without a mag in the magwell.

And you will NOT need to retrofit a Gen 4 to have mag disconnect (don't even think this is possible) to have a legal handgun in CA.

Not talking about that. For Single Shot it has to have a mag lock, I never mentioned anything about the mag disconnect. I mentioned Glock having to install a LCI. Re-read what I said.

I doubt they will make a CA model for Gen 4. You will still be able to buy the Gen 3. There are ways to get the Gen 4 though:

                1) single shot exception
                2) intra familial transfer from an out of state parent
                3) FTF transfer of one that is already here legally (LEOs sometimes sell their stuff)

you have to make a block for the mag well that prevents the mag well from being evacuated by any tool-less procedure.

so, for example, you could use a screw on plate that locks the block in from the top side, under the chamber area.

no need for a fancy bullet button, since the mag lock isn't required to make the pistol legal once you've transfered it via the exemption.

No worries. read too fast. Thought the person you were talking it was talking about a mag disconnect.

When I single shotted my M&P, from what I could tell.....

They removed the mag release button, and inserted a magazine body (without baseplate, and no follower). That satisfied the magazine LOCK requirement.

back to topic, glock will not make any compromises to their gen 4 pistol to satisfy the california market. at this moment in time, the gen 3 are still being made for backward states like ours. eventually they will stop making it. we will miss out on the gen 4 and glock ain't worried.

You mean something like this (third paragraph, last sentence)...

Microstamping passed and Glock has no interest in making the Gen4 Glocks "CA compliant".

Microstamping legislation has passed but is it being actively enforced?
