Check over on the M&P boards, I've heard hearsay that he's hard to get into contact with. His website is an eyesore.

I'd rather go through Apex Tactical Specialties or Bowie Tactical

^^ +1. I've been looking at picking up an M&P, and between Burwell's DIY guide to a trigger job, or APEX drop in kits, Apex seems the way to go. Burwell was the first, but Apex has kinda lept forward (at least in do-it-at-home mods).

I was just in Apex's shop on Friday. Great group of people, very friendly, and knowledgeable. Best gunsmith shop experience of my life. They let me fondle one of their M&Ps that they had worked over. Smooth like butter.... amazing trigger & reset!

That experience convinced me that my next handgun will be an M&P and I WILL have Apex work their magic on it.

Give them a call: 805.528.5250. I left a voice message when I called and Lisa returned my call within 10 minutes.

I agree... Randy cranked out my FS9 over a weekend and I had it back in 4 days flat, Scott picked up my 9c when he was cruising through the area so i didn't have to ship it. That's some excellent CS and only a few personal examples

Since Apex is a California shop, should they be given a "local" preference label? Otherwise, I think a lot of action shooters still like Burwell's work but don't necessarily recommend one over the other. And yes Burwell's website is an eyesore, literally!

I think local preference should be given as well, Scott will post here on occasion if needed but he has a couple dozen sites to monitor while putting in 60+ hour weeks of gunsmithing, designing prototypes, QC checks, instructing, competing etc... Has Burwell ever been on Calguns?

It's luck of the draw, just like I use to drive to Grayguns when Scott worked there in Rancho Cordova for some Glock work

I had Dan do my M&P 4-5ish years ago. He was easier to get ahold of back then, but he does do good work.
