Ed Brown suing Dan Wesson over bobtails?

I was told by a gun shop employee that Dan Wesson has been sued by Ed Brown over the bobtail 1911's DW was making (CBOB and VBOB). I've been longing for a CBOB for a while now, nothing fits me better, so I'm wondering how true this info is. Nothing on DW's forum, nor anywhere else in the internet that I could find....

    Anyone know anything about this?

The bolded part is the problem.

Dan Wesson is apparently a dba/trade name of CZ USA. CZ USA is based in Kansas City, KS. Ed Brown is located in Perry, MO.

Litigation between the two entities would most likely occur in federal court, probably in Kansas City.

The federal PACER case locator site shows no active litigation for CZ USA, Dan Wesson, or Ed Brown.

Ed Brown sells parts left and right. I believe that's where the majority of their business lies....why would they sue anyone for using them? I wouldn't be so quick to put any stock in much of anything you hear from gun store employees.

A gun shop employee told me the main reason Dan Wesson is now owned by CZ is due to the litigation costs from said suit.

unfortunately, most of the gunshop employees, just like the sales of any products, are full of BS.

I'm so sick and tired of the line they say all the time when you ask them to show you one particular handgun: "I have one of these at home, they're great......".

I follow Dan Wesson pretty closely. I have not heard or read anything about it.

CZ did purchase Dan Wesson, but they have been smart enough to leave them alone...so far. Ed Brown is one of Dan Wesson's big suppliers. If there were any consternation, I believe it would be all over the net.

Yeah this is pretty much what I thought. But it's good to verify. Btw, the "alleged" suit was about the bobtail, not about any other part of the build. Since Kimber makes a bobtail (offlist), I was pretty doubtful.

LOL, now that I think of it, I don't think I've ever fondled a gun where the guy behind the counter hasn't said that!

On the other hand, if I worked in a gun store, I probably would have one of each at home.
