    Glock 19 Misfeeds

Recently I purchased a Gen 3 Glock 19 through GSSF. One of the reasons that I chose the 19 was that I have had a G17 for going on 18 years, and it has performed flawlessly since day one. I also have plenty of G17 normal capacity magazines which were acquired well before our wonderful state decided to make them a no-no, which was another deciding factor to go with this pistol.

So, my G19 performs great with the Cali-neutered 10 round magazines. No feed issues whatsoever. I am using the same 115g Blazer Brass ammunition which has fed through my G17 for years. Naturally since my G17 magazines are supposed to work with the G19, I gave them a try recently.

One of the original G17 (early Gen 2, with only partial metal lined) works fine. The major drawback is it is one that has to be pulled from the magwell, as it bulges. A later fully-lined Gen 2 mag that I have would fail-to-feed at least twice each time used...sometimes catching the bullet half way, with the slide still partially opened, as if it did not travel far enough back or was getting caught on something. I have also rebuilt one of my original mags with a Gen 4 kit (it was getting sloppy in my 17) and that one also does not feed well with the G19 (but works fine with the G17).

So, what gives? The pistol has 200 rounds through it so far, but I keep scratching my head as to why it feeds fine with the 10 rounders, but it does not like the standard capacity magazines. Any advice appreciated.

Update your followers to the "9mm3" version.

Or change out the magazine spring.

Older/weak magazine springs will cause failure to feeds etc...

The rebuilt 17 mag, what malfunctions are occurring when you use it in the 19?

If you're going to rebuild it, might as well rebuild one of them into a 33 rounder!

Well the G17 Non-FML magazine which is the oldest is actually the one which feeds the best with the G19. The spring in the FML Gen 2 magazine is almost new, and the Gen 4 is a complete newly rebuilt magazine. I poured over a number of threads on GlockTalk, and it appears that the first post regarding the 9mm3 follower makes the most sense, and describes the feed issues with the gun. I have bid on a few 9mm3 followers on GB and will see if they help remedy the problem with the older magazines in the G19.

You can call Glock and they will send you followers. Sometimes that works and sometimes not.

Most likely the follower, but I'd update the follower and the spring. Should fix the problem. If you decide to contact Glock they might ask for you to send in your "normal capacity" magazines. Whatever you do, DON'T as they can't legally ship them back to you and will replace them with 10 rounders.

Range-report. Replaced the follower on one mag with the the 9mm3 and worked perfectly. No misfeeds with 100 rounds fired today. FYI, my standard-capacity 17 rounder now is a standard-capacity 18 rounder...bonus.
