    1911 dented brass case

I took out my 1911 to shoot today and i noticed on the shells when i got home that all have a small dint near the end when the bullet goes in. is there a reason for this? this is my first 1911 and i have not seen this on any of my other pistols.

The empty case is striking the ejection port area of the slide on the way out. What model 1911 do you have?

Is there a way to fix it from hitting it? it shoots and cycles just fine though

Try some other ammo. Mine does this with +P Loads, but not my light target loads.

It's common for most 1911 design pistols. Don't worry about it.

My Springfield 1911 does that same thing to my brass.

Have the ejection port lowered any 1911 gunsmith can do this for you.

ejector might be a little wore and maybe shorter.

Lower & flare the ejection port. This is common & the previously mentioned is the cure.

No need to lower the port. Just tune the extractor with a small file, first. That should do it! I had the same smashed case issue until I did this.

Just as an experiment; buy a box of Blazer non-reloadable rounds and I'll bet they won't get dinged (or else, dinged a lot less!)
I don't know if it is relevant, it's only just an observation with my Springfield GI 1911 before I tuned the extractor.
