    Springfield loaded 1911 sights question

Hey guys, i'm about to buy my first 1911, and i want your opinion. I narrowed it down between the Springfield Black stainless combat or the Black stainless target which has adjustable night sights on them.

Do you guys recommend getting the adjustable night sights from the beginning or is it better to upgrade later??? The combat model does not have night sights and it has the low profile combat sights. This is mainly for a range/HD gun. And the target model is available now, i gotta dig around to see if i can find the combat. Target is $999 and Combat is around $825 before dros.

    Thanks yall!

Your also looking at an ambi safety and G-10 grips on the target model.

Are you better off than you were four years ago?

yeah and the magwell as well. Just wondering if the sights are worth to get from the beginning or is it better to get aftermarket ones.

Considering your uses/needs right now, the target model satisfies the range and night home defense needs (and the magwell is worth the extra as well). Shoot it for a while and then decide if you even need (different) night sights. Who knows, you may find you want a fiber optic on the front for shooting outdoors. At least it's a good starting point. That's a good price for the target model.

night sights sound good in theory, but in reality, they arent worth much in the long run.

the black stainless are some pretty guns.

I have the Black Stainless Combat model and I changed the sights out for a Dawson fiber optic front and Novak style adjustable rear which I prefer over the Target model sights.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

The dovetail cuts on the Target model and the Combat model are different. The sights are not interchangeable. Springfield does sell an LPA adjustable sight for the fixed sight Novak cut in the Combat model.

I only know of one maker of a fixed sight to fit the Springfield adjustable dovetail cut (John Harrison.)

Thanks for the input guys, I think i'm gonna get the combat first then see what I need in the future and add to it. And they are pretty guns for sure. Now let see if I can find a dealer that have them!.

The question is what is this 1911 for? Then you can't goes wrong with the adjustable sight. Especailly if you start shooting reload or reloading later the adjustable sight comes handy. That my two cents.

                      Target where for 999.00?

Target Where for 999..00? I just purchased the target loaded 5 days ago and paid quite a bit more here in san diego....feeling like I paid too much. Shame on me I guess. The target is a nice gun the night sights were the deciding factor for now.

                      Cheers!

haha you have to look online, I've check all of my local gunshops, and none would match the price, and if they have some instock, they are through the roof. Apparently the combat version is super hard to find, so I might just go with the target model .

Just ordered the target model. Couldn't find the combat version. I'm stoked!

When you start reloading you can experimenting with different powder charge to load your 45 from shooting like a 38 to a full house 45 pressure. When you vary the powders charge in the 45 the bullet drop with will more noticeable and with adjustable rear sight you can just raise the right sight, then fix sight there is not much you can do but to file the front sight or buying a high rear sight.
