If money wasn't a factor, what production 1911 would you go with? Les Bear, Kimber, Colt, STI, other..? Not race guns, or ground up custom builds or modifications, but out of the box production? I saw a piece on Shooting USA recently on Les Bear 1911's and got me thinking about this question...they looked pretty sweet!

Something built by SVI. Is that production or would you consider them custom builders? Otherwise, Les Baer. Kind of hard to ignore a 1.5" @ 50yds accuracy guarantee. Maybe a Springfield Professional.

Nighthawk AACOriginally posted by tuna quesadillaSure, a good 1911 will feed FMJ ammo flawlessly, and some of them will even feed JHP. But they lack the features that make the Glock the excellent pistol that it is. A 1911 is an enthusiast's toy, not a serious combat pistol.Comment

I like Nighthawks, those look nice too....hadn't heard of Valtro's before, going to check that out. Why do Les Bears turn purple again? Does that have something to do with how they blue them? Or is that because of the metal? Never heard of that before...Comment

A blued, Kimber Gold Match. I saw one several years ago and I fell in love with that gun.
I've seen much, much more expensive pieces eg. Nighthawk, Ed Browns, Wilsons, etc. etc, even many much more expensive models in Kimbers lineup, but that model has always been the object of my desire.Comment

I have my dream 45, a Les Baer TRS and I back it up with an Ed Brown Cobra (plan on selling the Cobra though). My TRS is one awesome, accurate, reliable weapon- as is the Ed Brown of course.
If I bought another 45 it would be a SA Professional, ever since I gave my son- my non-rail TRP I've wanted another high end SA. TRP's and the Professional that I fired just feel good in the hand, I would go with thin grips though.Comment
