    HK for the best
    Sig for quality
Glock for economy, simplicity and reliability
    CZ for value
XD for rust, but good customer service
Ruger for true USA made inexpensive reliable workhorse
    Beretta for possible malfunctions
Taurus for cheap, but so far good compacts
    etc, etc, etc.

Personally, I like Sigs. I have a P226 in 9mm and a 9mm barrel for my P229 coming. Having said that, they don't fit everybody. You should rent or borrow whatever you are considering, shoot it a few times and then decide.

              Glock

              Glock, Glock, Glock and Glock....

Run your pistol over with a car, drop your pistol to the ground from mid-air(from a plane)..... the one that most likely will work.... will be a Glock.

Shoot them all then try a Browning Hi-Power. It is far and above my favorite 9mm handgun.

Yeah I saw that video too. So the guy dropped his gun out of a plane. I was rather impressed. But has anyone ever dropped a SIG, HK, XD, or CZ out of a plane to prove they wouldn't survive it? Glocks are great pistols, undeniable, but I don't know if I believe they're *that* much better than the rest.

Buy them all.. But seriously, you need to try them. Out of the 3, I would go with SIG, Glock, Ruger. Actually, I don't think I ever shot a Ruger 9mm.

The SIG and the Glock are super accurate (my experience is with the 226 and 17). I just like the SIG better (RE-READ: Personal Preference).. But alas, I am a HK guy myself...

I'm curious though, if the G21 fell onto concrete instead of the field, how would it have faired?

It was definitely quite a torture test though.

I dunno if they are *that* much better.... to a certain extend.... Glock may have lesser "safety" than you may want.... (yet, the pistol is really NOT cocked until you actually pull the trigger....)

They ARE on the other hand, one of the simplest, if not THE simplest pistol... in terms of parts count. Less parts, less thing can go wrong, IMHO.

I guess, I am just a Glock fans. But then I put 10k rounds thru mine per year.... and it has been running flawlessly....

Since you seem to have completely digested their marketing crap, yes this fanboyism would be apparent.
