    DROS Question

I know that when purchasing a handgun you have to have a valid DL. Now let me explain my situation.... I have the funds to purchase my handgun, but my current DL expires on the 22nd of this month. If I start the DROS process today, the tenth day will land on the 25th. Since my DL will be expired, and I most likely won't have my new one because Cali is lagging on getting the new ones out, will my purchase be rejected?

happened to me, i just went to a dmv office and ask for a temporary dl, it's just a piece of paper that proves that you already renewed your dl. i was able to do a ppt with it and my expired dl card.

I had a similar thing happen to me last year. But instead of my license expiring, I added the M1 motorcycle endorsement. After passing the test DMV handed me a paper temporary then punched a hole through the expiration date on my actual license (it hadn't expired) and told me they'd mail a new one to me. Well, Turner's wouldn't accept either/both of them when I purchased a handgun from them. They made me wait until the new license was in my possession before completing the process. Luckily for me the DMV wasn't backed up at the time.

I would clear up any questions with the FFL beforehand.

I just received my new format license from the State and it took 75 days to get here.

Keep this in mind when considering a gun purchase

Ask the FFL. The new licenses are taking people 3-4 months to get.
I have a friend who has been waiting 114 days and counting

If you are buying an in-stock handgun, they would run the DROS immediately. The ID has to be valid at the time the DROS occurs. If you are ordering a handgun and it can be DROS'd before your ID expires, you should be okay.

+1. My FFL worked with me with what I had and I picked up my pistol yesterday!

Do you need an id, or valid license? If you just need a valid id, a passport should do...no?
