M&P 9 front sight white dot

While shooting my M&P 9 today, the front sight white dot fell off. I actually saw a tiny white thing flew back at me, then for the next shot, the front sight white dot is gone. I tried to find the dot, but can not find in on the floor anywhere.

Is this normal for M&P guns? Should I just use white paint to fill the round hole?

There is no insert. It's just painted. I suppose if it wasn't completely clean when they painted it, the dried paint could have flown out.

I use Testors model paint. My front sight gets really dirty. I clean it everytime I clean my M&P's, and repaint it a couple of times per year, to keep it really white.

    Good luck!

Happened to mine too the first few rounds. White out and a toothpick works good. If you call them, they will send you a new sight but there's the matter of installing it.

Always happens on M&Ps. Just repaint with white nail polish, and if you want, paint over the white with some neon green or orange.

Would it make sense to paint it neon green instead? Went looking into lasers, I read that the human eye pics up the color green pretty easy compared to other colors. Anyone heard of this?

I've tried neon yellow, green and orange and felt orange was easiest to pick up in the light. White is actually easiest of all in dimmer light.

I do neon green for the rear sights, and neon orange for the front.

Where did you get the neon colors from?

Local crafts store. It's acrylic fluorescent paint. Works great when you paint over a white dot. Has had no problems with falling out or getting deformed.

Neon green is the best for daylight (assuming you aren't color blind), and white is the best for low light (or if you are color blind). Then again, once you spend $1 on green, you can spend $1 more on white, and try both.

Any hobby shop should have it. I used testors enamel. I went to michaels the other day and I couldn't find any fluorescent colors except for those puffy t shirt paints. But any place that sells model cars and planes will have it.
