question for bersa thunder 380 owners

i love the way the PPK/S looks and wanted one but after shooting my friends PPK i realized a few things. i dont like the internal slide lock and the PPK/S starts to bite into the webbing of my hand after a few mags. so i have decided to get a thunder 380 instead, my question is does the thunder 380 have that same bite as the PPK?

Were you shooting one of the SW PPKs? They make it with a more pronounced beaver tail to eliminate hammer bite.

I have a 380 Thunder. I've put many rounds through it. Absolutely no problem. I like it a lot.
I've never fired a PPK.

The Bersa BT380 is a fine well mannered gun. Love shooting it.

That's why it was biting you. Interarms and German PPKs bit shooters with meatier hands.


The Bersa AND S&W PPK both have more pronounced beavertails to eliminate hammer bite.




Try both in case even the Thunderer's isn't enough for your hand.

The bite will be reduced but you still need to make sure that you have a firm grip on the gun. The design of this particular gun does recoil, so you have to shoot it with a steady and heavy hand.

You'll like the Thunder 380 though. I really like mine.

+1 on the Thunder 380. Have not fired it all that much, but when I have fired it, it has not been any issues with it. I have never fired a PPK to able to compare the two.

i never had a single problem with the bersa and i own 3 of them probably put around 4k rounds in each of them. never shot the ppk though so cant compare

I've only shot the Bersa once and I liked it, I've shot PPKs before and they were always neat shooters IIRC. To be honest, the Bersa has it's magazine release better positioned than the PPK.

The only reason I own neither today, is that I have too many .380s as it is.

Is it biting or stinging the web of your hand?
I've got a Bersa 380 and both my wife and I note that the recoil has a sharp component to it that grabs your attention. It's not slide bite, it's sting.

Two other owners I've talked to mention the same thing.
I've put on a finger grooved grip that helps that to a small degree. I have read, but can't find it now that the recoil is more pleasant on a Bersa than the Walther. I've not shot the Walther and can't give you an honest comparison. The Bersa will be cheaper.

Mine shoots great with no bite as well. However, one thing I do notice is that the gun shoots straight back into the web of my thumb and doesn't have much muzzle flip. This makes for a sore thumb joint after 100 rounds or so. I usually only shoot mine once a year or so just to make sure it functions well. The gun is pretty accurate too.
