I am in the processes of gathering the parts I need to build an AR pistol. I need to know if the RRA pistol buffer tube needs a castle nut of some sort. Please let me know. Thanks.

AR pistol build question on the RRA buffer tube

RRA buffer tube actually doesn't come with a end/sling plate, so you're going to have to order one anyway. You might have to take a file to the "nub" on the plate to make it fit the buffer tube though because the tube doesn't have that channel cut like most standard AR buffer tubes. Takes a few seconds with a dremel or file. Trying to find a picture...Comment

I am pretty sure I got what you mean. Sounds easy enough!

We sell the RRA (fluted) tube with the plate and with the nub already ground off. It will not take a castle nut, simply will not fit, not enough threads. Besides it would look like crap. If you want a buffer tube with a castle nut and standard plate, we offer the Spike's Tactical (Fat) buffer tube, comes with those items.
We also carry a good selection of durable textured rubber sleeves for the pistol tubes, and foam covers as well.
