    Faced with a dilemma

Going to be purchasing my new Glock soon and I can't decide between a 9mm or the .45acp. I know many of you have been in this position and tell me what you decided and why. I'm leaning towards a .45 but the 9mm is appealing as well.

Which one fits your hand better and you shoot more accurately with? That be your answer.

      Plan on getting both

Eventually, Just because that's the RULE with GLOCK products.

Did you rent both yet..?...thats what I would do.

      For me, I got a GLOCK 17 first; then a GLOCK 21.

      Now I own those and a GLOCK 19 and a GLOCK 30.

Can't decide which I like better..

To save a few bucks perhaps a 9MM would be cheaper to run.

How often will you be going to the range/how much ammo will you be going through on a regular basis? I love my Kimber 45 BUT I find myself shooting the beretta 9mm much more often due to cost. Sorry to butt in with my non-Glocks, but just to give another angle to consider.

I was certain that my first Glock would be a 19.

            Then I met the 30sf.

              THE NEW GUY

9mm. Ammo is cheaper, which means more shooting time. Also Im the type that likes a heavy gun for larger rounds. Some can shoot glock 45's just fine, but I cant unless I really practice. Reason why I got rid of my old glock 30.

                Buy a .40 cal gun (22) and a 9mm barrel. It's not a .45 buy you'll have plenty of whallop.

Not the 9mm vs. 45acp debate again. Read the sticky on top.

I am not an expert, I only speak of personal experience. Keep in mind this is only a suggestion, and if you can rent and try both first, do so. The g21 is a very light gun for a 45. The lighter the gun, the more muzzle climb, so it make it harder to get back on target. For me it took some practice to shoot the 21 good, but it was a great shooter after a lot of practice. The 45 ammo is expensive. If you have money to drop on 45. ammo, I would say get the one that feels better in your hand. If you go with the 17 or 19.The grips on the 17s are are not as fat as the g21, and not ans much recoil as the 21. It is true the more range time you can get the better you will be with either gun. So, that being said, If you can afford to shoot 45 all the time, and it fits you hand better go for the 21, if ammo cost is an issue go with the 17/19, you can get more range time for less. It is better to have one shot that connects with a smaller caliber, than one that misses with a larger caliber bullet. Glocks can be addicting. I am sure if you don't already have a glock and this is your first ,you will be buying another one soon. You will know you have a problem when you stat buying two of the same model glocks.(like some people I know -wink,wink-) Good luck.

What do you want it for? IMHO 9mm is a cheaper and more pleasant round to use for extended range time. 45 is the default personal protection round (a modern JHP 9mm will usually suffice too though). Do you own any guns in either caliber already? Do you or would you want to reload? .45 is the obvious choice in those circumstances.

9mm and .45 are two of the most common rounds so deciding on one over the other isn't going to restrict your use (or resale market).

IMHO if it was my first Glock I'd go for something like a 17 in 9mm. .45 is a great caliber but I think it's natural expression is in an all-metal 1911, not a polymer Glock.

                          D.

                            45 ACP make BIG holes.

                            9mm, not so big.

I currently own the G23 and ammo price isn't a concern so I guess and hold and shoot both before I decide.
