    Wolf in a 1911

I am going to take my Colt Mark IV/ Series 70 out next week and try out some Wolf ammo that I got a great deal on. I'll give a range report when I get back. Has anyone had any luck with Wolf in a 1911?

*Note this thread is NOT meant for people to tell me how much they dislike wolf or that it shouldn't be allowed in any range! I have had nothing but good luck shooting Wolf 7.62x39 in a couple of AK's, SKS and a Mini-30, I want to expand my ammunition horizons.

BTW anyone know approximately what year my 1911 was made? The left side of the slide says "Colt's MK IV/ Series 70", right side says "Colt's Government Model" and the serial is 70GXXXXX

    Thanks everyone!

        If I'm not mistaken 1970 - 1972.

Alot isn't a word and allot isn't the word you think it is.

I'd really like a Colt 1903 frame, bad finish okay!
I'm also looking for a good deal on a 1911 frame or two for budget/spare parts builds.

I thought it was the early 70's, I think my dad bought it when he was still in the Army reserves.

          Thanks!

If you're going to shoot at an indoor check to see if the range allows steel cased ammo - some do not.

I'll be on BLM land, a one night camping shooting trip. It's going to be hotter than hell (Vegas).

I have quite a few FTE and FTL with Wolf. Probably about 1 in 50 in most cases. Wolf 45ACP really is not good stuff but I have shot about 3000 rounds of it through various 1911s. Yes, it's fun to shoot if you got a good deal but I saw a hangfire that almost took off a friend's face a few months back and I'm glad I don't have any more Wolf left. I will never buy it again.

Keep the windows down on 15 as you pass through DV & Vegas will seem cool by comparison.

I haven't had any FTE with this gun, the ejection port has been enlarged. I can't wait to get out and shoot!

I won't be going on the 15, we are actually going east of Jacumba near the San Diego/Imperial County line.

I've put a couple hundred through my Kimber Pro Carry II without so much as a hiccup. Just shoot it up and have fun!

                        Good Luck!

I will give 100 rounds of Federal hardball just so you don't run Wolf in that Colt 70. Brother that gun is a classic. Don't take the chance just cause the ammo was cheap. My E-mail address is Blademan21@netzero.net. I am in the IE,maybe I can meet you like at the Bass Pro Shop on your way to Vegas. Let me know.
