    beretta roster

Does any one know why the 96G-SD is on the approved roster (has a tactical rail) but the 96A1 is not on the roster?

Just a guess, but something must have changed related the manufacturing of the 96A1 that does not allow it to fall on the same applications as the 96G-SD. Since Beretta has to submit a new one for testing, pay additional registration fees, etc... They either chose not to submit it for testing or it failed. I think I remember seeing a thread the other day saying that some called Beretta and they were told that it did not pass the test and the changes required would be to significant.

I am not 100%, but I don't think the 92-A1 is on the roster either and both are Beretta's most recent models of the 92 and 96 line.

Both the 92a1 and the 96a1 are their newest offerings. Think of them as a bastardized hybrid of the classic 92fs and the 90-two. They took the best bits and made a great gun. Because it's mechanically different, they can't add them as a simple variant.

These also lack a Loaded chamber indicator, and a mag disconnect. These two piles of dung are not going to be stuck onto these guns, ever, according to beretta. As such, these will not ever be on the roster under the current set of rules for it.

Beretta has confirmed that they will not make a CA variant of these new guns.

All that being said: There's a number of them in the state already, and single shot exemptions still apply. They can be had for a modest markup.
