i'm curious as to if people prefer to have a tac rail on their carry pistol, and do any of you actually mount a light or laser on your carry piece? i can see those toys being fun on a home defense piece but is it viable for carry?

Most of my carry guns (except for the J-frame
) are railed pistols. I don't carry w/ my light affixed. I really don't understand the fear that some folks have that the rail will snag on something while drawing their gun. But hey, to each their own. Blade-Tech makes a few concealment belt holsters that will accept a pistol w/ a light attached; sans the bulk of a Safariland 6004.

If I carried I probably wouldn't have a tac rail on my pistol. Sure I'd have them for my home defense pistols because they would be full size guns but my carry pieces would be much smaller for ease of carry and having an attached light would just add bulk. I doubt I would be in any situation which requires a light to see who I am shooting.
If I pull with the intention of shooting I'm pretty darn sure I would be able to see my target who compelled me to defend myself.Comment

One of my carries is an "Operator" 5 inch .45. Never had a snag. Never really had a concern for snagging. A proper holster, proper clothing and draw technique would help if it did want to snag I guess.sigpic
