Last week I brought home my new RIA 1911 after I field stripped it I noticed that the barrel was extreamly dirty. I know they fire some rounds out of it at the factory but it looked liked 100 rounds had been shout out of it. I had to run a bore brush several times to clean out all the muck. Has anyone else noticed this on a new RIA 1911? Anyways cleaned her up and she is now GTG.

Same here, tho I only own one. They drown it in cosmoline so the Phillipine climate doesn't turn it into a pile of iron oxide before it leaves the factory.
FWIW a good cleaning/oiling is standard procedure for any new gun. The oil/cosmoline manufacturers use for shipping is a preservative, not a lubricant.
Any time I hear of brand new guns failing to cycle I wonder if they've been cleaned & oiled first."He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.

Kerosene is the classic solvent to remove cosmoline. Laquer thinner or mineral spirits will get it done as well.
Just make sure you re-oil, those solvents get all the oil off and the bare steel will rust without something on it."Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." - Benjamin Franklin
