Just brought home my brand-new Ruger GP100!

Pretty neat looking. I'm more of an S&W guy, but thats a fine revolver. I cant tell from this view, does it have an orange ramp on the front post and does it have rear adjustable/stationary or is it just a trench like sighting system for the rear.

No orange ramp; black ramp. Rear sight is adjustable for elevation and windage.

I like the S&Ws real well, but I'm a Ruger guy and in this instance the GP100/6 just really resonated with me. You know what I mean, I am sure.

I shot one in .327 fed magnum a year and a half ago, I think. I love these. The feel of the grip is nice and the fit/finish of GP100 is very very nice. Even for a Ruger. I suppose the 6" barrel means that it will be a hunting gun?

Haven't decided if I will mount a scope. Not right away anyway.

For now, mainly range shooting. I don't carry, so the 6 inch barrel is no problem, and I like the accuracy and the way it sights.

And similar to the N frame S&W it makes a handy club when ya run out of ammo!

Can't wait to fire it at the range tomorrow. Cleaned it up (which it didn't much need, factory fresh out of the box), put the snap-caps in and spent some time dry-firing it for practice and to break in the trigger. I have to say that I think that the GP100 gets a bad rap on the trigger issue. My trigger has a nice feel to it and makes a nice click in double action when in the pre-fire position. It is a bit of a pull, but not bad. I like the smooth Ruger trigger better than the grooved S&W trigger, but that is me. We'll see what I think after a few boxes of ammo are sent downrange.

I ordered the red-ramped front sight from Ruger today.

What is involved in switching out the standard sights? I see that there is a pin below the front sight. How does that deal work?
