SIG 1911 or SA Stainless Mil Spec

I went to a shop that had the SIG 1911 (pakerized)for $799. Sounded good to me right?
But then I came across a Springer Mil Spec in stainless for $60.00 cheaper.
Anyways. I like the finish on the Mil Spec better.
Also does the SIG use a special barrel? Looks like it has a long feed ramp?
Not a fan of packerized 1911s since my first pistol was a Blued Colt Ser 70 Gov Model.
Going back Saturday to buy one of these two. Having trouble deciding but am leaning towards the Mil Spec.

Which sig 1911 was it? Theres quite a few.

    Yes, the barrel is ramped

I dont think the sig comes in parkerized.(if thats what you ment) Its a nitron black sig finish. A really nice finish and very strong IMO.

I'd get the sig, its a better gun.

Many fo the Sigs come with match triggers and all the nice internals! My stainless GSR XO Sig is a rough finished stainless that kinda looks like a parkerized finish, but its not.

I've also been looking at the Sig 1911 models. Do they have any reliability/function issues?

At a $60 price difference, I'd grab the Sig.

Iv shot around 2500 rounds threw my sig gsr target. No problems other than one failure to feed. (I was using wadcutters). Great gun.

If you can get over the sig look and the external extractor then (I think) their the best 1911 for the price by far.

Correct me if I wrong, but I belive that all Sig 1911s are stainless! You can remove the finish on the black Sig and get a stainless finish or do a cool looking two tone. I would jump at the Sig over a SA GI or even a Loaded. I own both the Sig and a SA Loaded the Sig is by far my favorite.

Yes, all sig 1911's are stainless steel.
Its just a much better gun than the SA mil spec

All FULLSIZE SIGS are stainless steel. One of the compacts has a different frame material. c3?

My stainless target had 4 fail to feeds in the first 300 rounds. spread accross 3 magazines.

Mine also has the SLOPPIEST slide to frame fit I've ever seen on a new 1911.

The slide can be pushed from one side of the dust cover to the other- It clanks while doing it.

Sent it to sig under warranty, and they claim it; "is well within factory specs." They did nothing to tighten it. It actually scratches the side of the slide at the recoil spring.

I think I got a lemon, so now I call it "sig SOUR".

Check it over carefully especially the slide to frame fit before buying.... dont count on them to fix it.

I coulda bought 3 RIA's for what I paid for this clankity clank 1911... bet they have a better fit too.

I would get the Sig 1911, I don't think you can beat the quality and features for the price. Very nice guns.

Never seen problems like this with the SIG. My SIG slide is tight to the frame and has no feed problems. But I only shoot high quality ammo. Seems that my SIG GSR has all match grade components

You can consider me a bit biased since I have a couple SA 1911s, but I much prefer them to the Sig. At first glance the Sig seemed nice to me, but after firing a few mags through it I found considerable discomfort from the shape of their beavertail. I don't discount that the Sig may be a good gun, but it didn't have what I consider to be a good shooting feel. Of course this is just my opinion and you should shoot them both and decide for yourself.
I voted against Obama before it was cool.

The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

Depends on when it was made- they started out mim free. Not anymore. And doesnt almost every company say *everything* they make is "match grade"?

And how would match ammo vs WWB affect my poor slide to frame fit? Only 300 rounds through the gun... as long as the ammo goes "boom!" it wouldnt make any difference...

They used a number of different common component manufacturers and switched suppliers several times. So far, there are at least 2 types of beavertails on the sigs. Changing out a beavertail is something a lot of people can do- shouldnt be too much fitting involved if it already had one, and you buy a replacement with the correct tang radius.
