    Glock finishes in the USA

I have several of these guns a 10 years old 23 and my last one was 19
it has a angle cut on the breech block over the ejector port (not seen on my newer 17RTF) and the finish has more gloss to it. I thinkthe angle cut was to increase reliability but the new glossy finish was it done in the states?

I'm not really sure what you're asking

Recently glock has started making gun in the US. Also recently Glock has switched from the shiny "teflon" finish to a duller one.

If your guns are more than a couple years old the finish was applied in Austria. The guns are assembled in GA.

    Does that answer your question?

They changed their finish not long ago. Maybe the Tenifer as well, but I keep reading different things.

Some have a greyish barrel only, while others now have the greyish barrel AND slide. The grey slide seems to scratch easily. The grey barrel seems to resist scratching. This is hearsay from about 10 different forums.

My G19 was imported 8-9-10 according to GLOCK in Smryna, Georgia. It's got the grey barrel and Black slide. I could care less how scratched and worn the finish is. The thing shoots flawless.

      WTB used AK MFER.

Tech Plate in Orange County plated lots and lots of Glock slides for somebody in matt hard chrome.
Here is what it looks like:

        Haha...I got a 1911 pic into a Glock thread...

the us made uppers are not made of tennifer but are very close in hardness. i forgot what process they use over here. its just less toxic as what they do in austria. i was also told that the material used are more rust resistant.

There's so much speculation/FUD on this matter, I don't think anybody has an exact answer.

I agree. And there's still ton more of the standard ones with the regular finish anyways.

my bad for not disclosing my source. in an armorers class i just attended, larry ford, who is the current law enforcement district manager on california, explained to us the current production of US made complete glock pistols (currently exported outside the US). The uppers though have been sold here.

if you have questions, here is his calling card info.

btw, there were alot of calgunners in the class (venue was at the new san jose crime lab) as well who can corroborate my story.

But these are only the US made guns right? They should say USA on the slide instead of Austria, right?

I'm not looking forward to the day the when I have to buy a US made Glock.

Do you mean melonite? If so, from what I understand, tennifer and melonite are the exact same thing.

Gen4 glocks still have the shiny black finish as before.

In all honestly it doesn't really matter, tennifer or melonite. They both are basically the same thing. Training, not finishes will make you better shooters. Isn't that really what is more important anyway?
