I have a compact stainless II that was made in '04, I've replaced the recoil spring, and the extractor spring with the wolff xtra power springs and Fired about 500 rounds through it, I have noticed in those 500 rounds I had about 4 FTE's, would this be a cause for concern? Mags are Kim pro tac mags, ammo was walmart UMC 230gr ball.

UMC is KRAP ammo. I bought 500 rnds once and seperated it into different length lots. The variance was over .15 OAL. Try some decent ammo or start reloading.
And check the extractor for wear. If I remember right, 2004 is an external extractor. A curved surface on the lower corner says replacement is necessary. The extractor corners should be sharp. Kimber will send you a new one in about a week for free if you say you can replace it yourself when you call. If you can't replace it yourself, you will have to ship the slide to NY or have a gunsmith install a new extractor for you. If it is the extractor, Put a drop of oil on the new one while cleaning to prevent wear. Post a closeup Or PM me with a pic of the extractor and I could tell you. Please add the weight of the spring kit you installed. If over 18.5, It may be too strong for anything but +P ammo and retracts the slide before the extractor can catch the case head.Last edited by diginit; 02-26-2011, 8:48 PM. -
U second that! UMC ammo is garbage. With my 9mm handgun I had 2 failures to go into battery. Comment

Umc in my 223 had 3 bad primers in a box of 20 that didnt go boom. Also 1 of the rounds in that same box had a primer that was all cracked open, quite scary looking. That was the first and last box I bought of that stuff. Try Winchester white box from walmart if available, or another good brand from a vendor."If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so." - Thomas JeffersonComment
