    Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical?

I'm considering purchasing this pistol, I enjoy 1911's but not their prices this particular make and model seems to be in the right price range for me, $520 with 10% off. I'm just wondering if these are decent 1911's, reliable, and if the parts are interchangeable with actual 1911 parts (magazines, grips, firing pin, safety etc..)

Also, if you have any pictures of your RIA Tactical 1911 post them!

My friend has one, he likes it, I like to shoot it too. He says the only problem he had with it was the factory mags were causeing feeding issues.

I've got a GI in 9mm coming home next week. I like how they feel and will let you know how it shoots.

                Not quite that simple.

                Single shot, dimensionally compliant.

To be "imported" into California by a non-exempt person, it must meet a number of requirements if it is not on the roster (and a new 1911 gun can not, by design, meet the roster requirements due to the lack of an LCI and mag disconnect).

Single shot = zero-round sled locked into the magwell.
Dimensionally compliant = Minimum 6" barrel, minimum 10.5" OAL

Fortunately, it's easy to change the barrel on a 1911 and a 7" barrel (needed to get the 10.5" OAL) will work with the standard slide and barrel bushing.

                Okay... the RIA Tactical.
I have one, and I love it. It's my favorite handgun, even though it holds 2-fewer rounds than my XD.

On parts compatibility, for the most part, yes, it is compatible with standard 1911 parts. I am running OTC Brownell's parts for the guide rod and plug, and a SpringCo 16lb recoil spring (16lb is OEM for the RIA).
However, I wanted to remove the ambi safety and replace it with a standard GI safety. The pivot hole is too small and the OTC safety won't go in.

Grips are standard Pachmayr, but I did have to file the inside edge of the safety levers, as they will hit the top edge of the grips.

Tactical sights are much nicer than the GI, but they are pure black, so your sight picture is not unlike that of a revolver with a ramped front sight.
I bought some glow in the dark dots, put those on front and rear, and sealed them with a drop of super glue.

Is it a Dan Wesson? No. Is it a great, reliable gun? Yes.
