Just between those 2, I would get the Ruger.

Though overall I would save up a bit more money and buy a CZ 75 or Ruger SR9, but that's me. Find a range that has them and try them out, only way youll know if you like them.

Both guns have good reviews and you'll be well served with either one. You should pick one based on how they feel in your hand, natural point of aim, ergonomics of the controls, and how it shoots (renting is the ultimate way to see if you like a gun). Also in this price range is the Sig Pro SP2022 in 9mm ($399). This is worth checking out as well imo.

try shootin both and see from there, i know you have a ruger, but this one might be a bit different from the one you have, just my rule of thumb

If its for carrying I would definitly look into the SR9 or SR9c, about $100 more but very nice guns for that money.

Not a big fan of Ruger auto's but between the two it would be my choice. The worst gun I've ever owned was a sigma.380.

The sigma has an absolutely ridiculous trigger pull... feels like you need to get a running start to fire the thing.

I agree Zorrm the trigger pull on the sigma will take some getting used to. I also didn't like the trigger gaurd but for an entry level perfect you can only go up from there. If it was me I would save a couple hundred more and get a nicer gun in the $500 dollar price range.

Having owned both (although the Sigma was one of the early models from the 90's and I understand they have gotten better) I would go with the Ruger. I've got over 10,000 trouble free rounds through mine. The downside to the Ruger is the price of extra mags ($40 each).

I have a P95 and think it is a pretty good pistol, very reliable and fun to shoot with low perceived recoil. By the way extra 10 round mags can be had from Midway for $25 Mec-gar or $28 for Ruger factory.

Good input. How is the SR9 for ease of field stripping and cleaning?
Right now the SR9 is tentatively next on my list.
