    Good "Pocket Pistol" for ccw?

My uncle lives out in lodi and is going to be getting his ccw and wants to get a gun that he can have in his pocket and must be semiauto. I was thinking keltec PF-9 possibly but what are other guns that can fit this "requirement". He doesn't want a 45 acp or .380. He's thinking of qualifying with a 22 lr and a 9mm. Thanks for any help guys

Those keltecs are pieces of crap. Worst trigger I have EVER felt in a handgun. I'd look into a kahr PM9 or MK9.

Couple of my buddies rock the LCP in a pocket.

Even the 642 from S&W is great when carried properly.

Smith 642. The whole pocket pistol route is really awesome idea, but there are so few that work as good as a snubnose. Go hammerless.

Why no .380 but will qual with a .22lr??

For when I can't carry my Smith 645, I have a Smith 340pd, a Kahr P380, and a NAA 22lr mini revolver on my permit and all have their place depending on the season, dress, scenario, etc. If he is set on a pocket 9, hard to go wrong with the PM9.

                Pocket Pistol

Hate to sound like a broken record, but if it must be a semi-auto, I'd recommend the Kahr PM9. Mine is very easy to carry in the pocket of dress pants and loose fitting jeans. It's size is about as small as I'd care to go, but it conceals great.
All that said, I'd still recommend checking out a concealed hammer revolver too. In my experience, the S&W 642/638 models are excellent in a pocket, are better shaped for an easy draw, and have an outline that is easier to conceal.
                Best of luck.

for those hot days at the lake and light board shorts i carry a 1908 colt pocket vest in 25 acp. its as small as my black berry and holds 7+1. some people says its not enough power but tell that to the officers family in my town that was killed on duty from 2 shoots from a 25acp. i normally carry a glock 30sf or pt145, both 45 acp

If he is willing to deal with the weight a colt 1903 hammerless in .32acp would be a step up from a .22lr, and they are nice little guns.

PM9. Great pocket gun. I recommend a Kramer pocket holster for it.

I used to have a 642 for pocket carry, but the PM9 is a better option IMO. They carry in a pocket equally well, but I prefer the PM9's trigger pull and carrying a spare mag/reloading the gun is much easier than dealing with reloading a wheelgun and carrying speed loaders.

I would suggest like many others have said a 5-shot .38 revolver. Only way to really pocket carry an auto is with a cargo pocket such as with a Glock 26.

Thanks for those seening why I'm recommending the 642. Its 5 surefire shots and no issues if lint retards the slide or goes out battery. I love the kahr, if you "have" to have a pistol, go kahr or glock. Honestly 5 shot cylinder and speedloader is fine for ccw are fine.

I'm thinking of getting a J-frame, but for some reason am tempted by the mostly-enclosed hammer, that you can still fire SA. I think its the 638.

What are the downsides? Lint getting in the mechanism? Or do most prefer the 642 just because they prefer the DA only for CCW?
