What is the most lethal home defense round between 9mm or .45?

Which would you rather use for HD?

Also, I have been trained not to shoot center mass, but instead at the balls. So, which would be more lethal for that area of the body?

You want to cause the most amount of trama in the least amount of time to stop someone, aside from shooting them in the head.

The best way to do that is a bullet with mass and the ability to leave a substantial hole in something to create the most amount of blood loss as fast as possible.

I vote .45 ACP (if I have to chose between those two calibers).
