    Beretta PX4

I heard that this pistol's slide doesn't lock back after the last shot is fired or when the slide is pulled back on an empty magazine.

Is that true or true for some models of this gun?

I was really liking the gun until I heard that.

Also, I saw a version of the PX4 with a black frame and green slide but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Was that a custom paint job or something?

    Just trying to understand here.

    Thanks

My model F locks back after the last round and on an empty magazine.

It's definitely supposed to lock back. If your riding the slide release button then that could be why some people thought they were having issues. Just shot one 3 days ago, nifty little pistol.

put 1k+ round through my PX4 F and it has never failed to lock back on an empty mag. matter fact the gun it self has never gave me any problem.

PX4 G here and it locks back every time on the last round. I can also lock the slide manually with an empty mag.

It may have been people talking about the Px4 Compact. It just came out and the recoil spring is super stiff. Some people are having trouble with the action not cycling reliably without using extra hot ammo.

My Px4 Compact had a slide lock failure once, but I don't think it's going to be an ongoing problem.

You can read about my first impressions here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=400483

In my review, I also linked to a thread on BerettaForum.net that discusses the problem in detail.

I don't think it's an inherent problem with Px4 Compacts, but it's certainly not a common problem with the Sub Compact or the Full Size.

Maybe he's a Beretta hater... spreads FUD to makes them sound unreliable. I own a PX4 and I've put 2500 rounds through it with out a single issue. I replaced my slide catch with a slim one because it was uncomfortable on my thumb and I use the overhand method to reloading. I also replaced the plastic guide rod with a steel one and then had the guide rod, barrel, and locking block NP3'd by Robar. I can run that gun dry and it still functions flawlessly. I've even tried to limp wrist it to cause it to fail... it just will not.
