Luger ID Help

I am trying to ID and appraise his Luger for a friend... frankly I'm not a vintage gun guy and don't know where to start. This had belonged to her father who died last summer and I want to get her an idea of what she has
Can anyone assist?

The top of the gun is inscribed with 1918, the numbers 77 and 72 appear in various places on the gun

You need to take the gun apart. If the numbers are 72 instead of 77 then you have a shooter worth about $750. I do not see anything that makes it outstanding as a collectible such as 98% condition, rare markings or limited production. There were 118000 1918 DWM lugers made. If all the small parts, grips and magazine are matching I would say around $1500 if you are not in a hurry to sell, $1200 if the mag is not matching.

I took the gun down tonight...
All of the parts I came across had "77" on them except a couple of externals.
Can't find an numbers on the mag, but it's definitely old (not that it means anything)
The gun also has the wooden buttstock but's its not matching numbers

I gotta say - it's a strange little package... different from any of the other guns I've handled. The buttstock assembly looks like a joke, but the ergonomics are quite good

I would love to see pictures of the butt stock. Also do not put the stock on this pistol as you will have a SBR and is illegal both in CA and Federal laws.

The Buttstock is not in amazing condition

The shoulder board goes to an artillery Luger. In that condition around $500. It is in good condition with an area of pitted rust. Please do not attach it to the pistol, very bad outcome.

The Luger shown has a stock lug on it.

I thought the ATF rule a long time ago that Luger pistols, Broomhandle Mausers and Browning HP's that were originally configured for a stock were legal to mount a stock on.

Yes you are right but they never made a board stock for the 4-5in barrel length lugers. You can only put the boards on the Navy or Artillery Lugers. Pretty much all the lugers have the slot attachment on the grip. Some slots were removed because the ATF said they were for stocks and they could not be used.
