    Ca Ok?

I hope this isn't one of those instances where folks say - Yep, there really is such a thing as a stupid question.

When the DOJ roster shows a 9mm Browning Hi Power, blued steel, with adjustable or fixed sights as being on the safe list (they are on the list) does that apply to current manufacture only or does that apply to older identical versions also? If it does not apply to older manufacture that are mechanically identical, why not?

I notice the CA approved roster for Browning lists model name only - S & W and others list model name & a specific number.

If I were to purchase (out of state for transfer to a CA FFL) a 1970s model, fixed sight 9mm BHP, is that not the same model as the currently manufactured & CA approved BHP?

    Looks like

Bobbby Guns has gotten their model 1911 blah blah on the list, doesn't matter what year it was made, if its a "Bobby Guns model 1911 blah blah",
and we know "Bobby Guns model 1911 blah blah" is on the list,
    then rock'n'roll blah blah
"Give orange me give eat orange me eat orange give me eat orange give me you."

      should be fine

Where the rubber meet the road is when your FFL has to enter the make and model of a non-PPT handgun into the electronic DROS form on the terminal.

The roster database says the model is a:
      Hi-Power Blue Fixed Sights / Steel Pistol 4.66" 9mm 7/26/2008
Page 38 from the DROS Manual says:
The Make, Model, Type, Caliber, Barrel Length and Units fields are
automatically filled once a certified gun type is chosen.
No where is it mentioned as to when the pistol was manufactured. There are certain manufacturers that provide a unique model number in addition to a model name but Browning is not one of them.

Just make sure the manufacturer code is the same as on the list.

For example, if there is a Ruger Redhawk on the list and it has the code KRH-445 next to its name, and the Ruger Redhawk you want has the code KRH-445 on the Ruger website, it should be okay for purchase.

The Brownings don't show a code or item number, just a description. I think I'll check with the crew @ City Arms, see what their FFL Dealer opinion on it is.
