Bent front sight on new SA Operator

Just took possession of a brand new, never shot, in the box, Springfield Armory .45 Operator from a private party out of state. The front sight is slightly leaning to the left. The warranty card and all the paperwork for the gun is in the box. I read on SA's websight that they warranty only to the initial retail purchaser. Does anyone know if SA budges at all on that policy or would I be better off seeking a local smith to straighten it out? I'm in the SF bay and I'm sure there are some qualified smiths here but I don't know any.

SA has great customer service. As far as I know if you give them a call and explain the problem they will take care if you

SA warranties the gun period. Doesn't matter if your the first or 10th owner.

Or get a replacement Dawson or Warren sight. Easily installed if you have a padded vise, a hammer and a 1/16 punch. Dawson provides the drift tool to safety remove the stock sight and drift in the new one. I've replaced 3 sights on my Springfields (the .125 stock sights are too wide). No dings on my slides. You might need a file to fit the sight to the dovetail. Once in...nice.

Called SA this morning. Expected resistance but to my pleasent surprise they were very courteous and said they would honor the warranty. Trish sent me a prepaid Fedex email R/A, said to ship her back the slide, and that they'll make it right, no muss no fuss.
Now that's the kind of customer service I like!

No one, that I know of, can beat SA customer service. My personal experience has been similar, and everything I have read has reported the same...
