Received Colt Handgun - Some Questions

My grandfather recently passed away and part of my inheritance is a Colt Army Model 1860 revolver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_Army_Model_1860). I'm curious to its monetary value, but I'm more interested in specific details about the revolver. The serial numbers on the strap, barrel, and one other part (can't remember and revolver is not with me at the moment) all match and the serial number on the cylinder is slightly different.

    Questions
    1. Where can I track down the origin of parts based on serial number?
    2. Once I can obtain that information, how would I go about finding a monetary value?

I certainly will not be selling it (exactly why my brother didn't get it...ha!) since it has been in my family since my great-grandfather at least. I really just have no idea where to begin getting this information. Thanks in advance!
