    Bersa .380 trigger problem

    Hello Calgunners

This is my first post. I've been lurking around a while and have learned so much here. I am grateful to you all for what you are doing and sharing.

Anyway, My wife and I have a Bersa thunder that we bought used a year or so ago. We have fired the gun many times and sent hundreds if not thousands of rounds downrange with no issue.

Today, we went up into Tahoe National forest by Oxbow and did a little plinking. My wife was shooting the Bersa and it suddenly (mid magazine) started acting as if the trigger was disengaged by one of the safeties, although the safety was off and the magazine was firmly in place. I dropped the mag and cleared the chamber and then reloaded and re-chambered a round. The gun fired a couple of rounds and then the trigger disengaged again. This happened several times.

I put the gun away and we practiced with the other guns and had a great day. But the Bersa malfunctioning has me a bit bummed. Has anyone had a similar experience with a Bersa?

Bersa has life time warranty for the original owner. You may want to call them up.

Im betting the tab on the magazine isn't pressing up on the mag release check both the mag and the gun.

tyan - I bought it used.
mindwip - Clean gun, well, clean before we started shooting, and only one mag.
ZombieTactics - Great Videos btw, have seen several on the tube. I thought the same thing and so manually depressed the magazine tab button while trying the trigger. No luck.

Do you have the key for the internal lock?

Internal lock .. or mag safety failure as others have said.

When I owned a Bersa, I deleted the mag safety for this very reason. It's VERY easy to do and reversible if you ever sell the gun.

If you feel it is a magazine issue and you want/need magazine(s):

If you think the gun needs repair you might post on the Bersa Chat forum to get some names of warranty repair depots:

If the internal lock is enabled, you can't pull the trigger back.

If the magazine is out or the decocker is in the safe position you can pull the trigger all the way to the rear of the trigger guard.

At least that's what I see happening on my Bersa 380 - just tested it to make sure of accuracy.

Have you slammed the magazine into place? When I push my mag into place, there are TWO clicks, and that second click occurs as the magazine FULLY seats into the gun and it takes a little more force.
