My intention is not to knock Magpul products, since they typically seem pretty good bang-for-the-buck... but this is a bit disappointing... I got a 3-pack of the Glock SpeedPlates to test out the other day, and one of them has already completely failed:

It literally peeled right apart at the glue-bond interface. I have to wonder why these weren't cast as a one-piece assembly to avoid this sort of failure mode. Maybe it's just a one-off QA failure, but I'll touch base with Magpul CS to see what they can do about it.
This was just while at home testing out how the (Glock 19) magazines handle with the SpeedPlates installed... not in the field, no harsh conditions or crazy scenarios. I'd hate to wonder what would happen if this were to happen to a professional in the field choosing to use these devices (assuming any of them do). I have a set of the similar RangerPlates installed on my "shortie" 10-round PMAGs since it helps a lot with handling the short magazines in the AR, so I figured I'd give the Glock version a try too.
Just thought people might want a heads up to check that their SpeedPlates carefully before fielding them. Again, this was a brand new unit. The other two in the pack seem to be holding up for the time being.

I only installed 2 of the plates (out of a total of 8 magazines) for the time being to test out in some classes and whatnot.
i guess if you are talking about it getting hot, you mean the MOE handguard?
