which of the Sig 226 would be considered the top line overall: duty, HD, etc?

I don't know about the procedure for him to "import" a gun here to transfer to you.

As far as which P226 to get, if money's no object, you might want to see if you can get an X5.

Since we're on a public forum you might want to looking into the little term Straw Purchase.

Is it a straw purchase if guy No. 1 buys a gun legally, then gives/transfers to guy No. 2 using an FFL and the applicable laws?

I thought straw purchase was guy No. 1 buying gun for guy No. 2 (usually a prohibited person) then just giving the gun to guy No. 2 thereby usurping the NCIS controls that would normally prevent guy No. 2 from getting a gun.

I've heard of the transaction described above as kind of squirrelly if guy No. 1 was an LEO but only with respect to his agency not liking him helping friends get by the roster (perception) - not due to illegaltiy.
