    38 super bushing size?

Hi everyone so i have a second barrel for a old colt 38 super my dad gave but it fits too loose on the original bushing. Their both colt barrels just that one original is thicker than the other. Any ideas where i can find one?

Brownells has several choices in 1911 barrel bushings. Best bet is to measure the barrel O.D then buy an oversized bushing and get a gunsmith to fit it for you. A drop in fit may work but spending a little money will increase accuracy and reliability.

Why do you want to use the barrel your Dad gave you instead of the one fitted to your pistol?

I Just did'nt want to wear the original thats all since its an old gun. May dad bought it in in 78 and probably put less than 200 rounds. The barrel od is .50

It will take a lot more .38 super ammo then I can afford to wear out a barrel.

And in the unlikely event you do you wear one out just get Bar-sto to fit one of their match barrels into it and you'll have much better accuracy.

As a general rule 1911 barrels aren't drop-in replacement items, they should be checked for proper fit by a qualified gun-smith for each pistol.
