    Handgun Cable Locks

Over the years I have acquired a half dozen or so of these things.

I have a safe at home, so I really have no use for them, and since the current law requires you to have receipt within the last 30 days for purchases, they're pretty useless.

Just wanted to see what everyone else does with them. Maybe there is something creative that I am missing, but most of mine are unopened in their original packages.

I long of the days when you could just sign the safe affidavit.

I have all of mine just sitting in the safe with the ammo.

I also don't know where it says in law about the last 30 days. Any transfer I have done has been with the oem lock.

I did a couple of PPTs recently that came with OEM locks, and they said that doesn't count. I think it might be a different story if you buy BNIB from them.

I use one of mine to keep my helmet locked to my motorcicle when I walk away.

Gate lock. It's cheaper than buying a new padlock.

Many of my customers shoot at them. I found that interesting.

Once, a guy brought in a whole box of CA legal locks and gave them to me. They are free at my business ever since. While supply lasts!

Can we have a communal handgun cable lock burning event?

find a buddy that runs their own business, get them to just print up an invoice saying you bought one of the unopened locks from him.

                    never again buy locks.

I've had several gun shops locally recommend that I go to big5 and buy one, bring it along when I pick up the gun, and then return it as soon as I get home.

I had to buy a lock to pick up my pistol because it doesn't come with the lock.

yes, but during a PPT some FFL's do not count the OEM lock as valid and make you buy a new one before they let you pickup. since the requirement is that the lock must be purchased within the 30 days.

I use them as bike locks. get enough of them and you string them together to be a weird leash. thing
