    S&W M&P .40

I just wanted to get your opinion on the Smith and Wesson M&P handgun. If anyone owns one if so in what caliber and if they are happy with it also if they would prefer another handgun in the same price range (around $530). I live in CA and am thinking about purchasing one very soon in .40 caliber, was considering a 9mm but leaning toward .40 now. I've heard mixed reviews from many people, just like to hear some more...Thanks...

Have one, and love it. Great for a left hand shooter like me.

So far, I have the Apex RAM in my 9 Pro, and I absolutely LOVE it. It makes a huge difference, and if you're one who is looking for that positive trigger reset feeling, the RAM is a no brainer.

All of the other Apex stuff comes HIGHLY regarded, but I have no experience with it.

I know personally of a few State Troopers in Washington (including my father) that are carrying it as their primary, and love it, my father was carrying the M9 and wanted something with a heavier caliber and got the S&W and loves it, he actually said I should pick one up and is buying his from the Patrol when he retires in 2 years.

The M&P is a fine handgun. I have the .45 version. I'd buy any of the M&Ps.

There is nothing wrong with 9mm. Easy to shoot and cheap on the wallet.

I read on ARF, you may be able to use a stock 9mm barrel in the 40. Disclaimer-I just read it, havn't tried it and have no opinion one way or another.

I think I've given my opinion plenty of time on the M&P and Apex Tactical parts and service But I would not buy another .40 unless I had to for some job related reason as it is not as pleasent to shoot fast and about 25% more expensive...

i love my mp 40 full size. My trigger is not as bad as some others say they are. It is not gritty and has a clean break. Although i am sure the apex parts make it even better

With a M&P in .40 you just can't go wrong for the price. I have one and absolutely love it. Looking to pick up a 9mm Conversion barrel from Storm Lake as well as some 9mm magazines. You can also buy a drop in .357 barrel and use the same magazines for that as the .40.

I have had no problems with mine and highly recommend them.

I don't have confidence in a conversion barrel for defensive handguns and I like to practice with what I actually carry. YMMV
