I have three Paras. Two are older pistols, pre-Power Extractor, one a P14-45 LDA, the other a P14-45 Limited. Both are pretty well-behaved pistols. The third, a Carry .45 LDA, came with the Power Extractor. It didn't run well at all until I ditched the PE and replaced it with a sleeve from EGW and a Wilson extractor. Now it runs fine but it's no more than combat accurate.
The two pistols are so far apart in terms of fit-and-finish, hand fitting, and customer service that it's almost like comparing apples and oranges. If you have the money and like the Baer, then get the Baer. If you don't, and get the Para, expect the likelihood that you might have to work on it/have it worked on to make it reliable. Add that to Para's customer service woes in the recent past, and the reason for the price difference between the two pistols becomes quite clear.
