Zeroing your pistols and at what range

Was curious as to how many of you actually zero your pistols. And if so, at what ranges and how. All of my pistols except 1 has fixed sights.

I was told that i should zero it for windage and all I need is a small hammer and a plastic punch. Just hit it with the hammer left or right till it hits center is what I'm told.

Also, I'm told to zero it at 7-8 yards.

    What do you guys do?

    Thanks.

I would think most modern pistols don't need to be sighted. Every pistol i own is more accurate then me no matter how much i blame my bad shooting on them.

I would start at 7 yrds since thats the min most ranges allow, then 25yrds, but again i dout they need it.

windage is the same for any distance.. and since your sights are fixed.. there is no way to adjust elevation without dramatically altering the sight..

If your windage is off, fix it.. test for it at 7, 10, 15, 20 yards.. the further the better, provided you're a good enough shot to accurately place shots down range..

Not to sound harsh, but the wording of your question makes you sound very new to firearms.. Sight adjustment is pretty easy to do if you know what you're doing.., but if you're not sure, you can make things go from bad to worse.. Get some help from someone competent is my recommendation..

Depends on the pistol you own, Sig makes different height sights to lower and raise your POI.

For example the sights i have on it right now are both 8's. its basically dead on at 25yards with a center hold.

Aagghh! Yeah, you can tap it with a hammer and punch, but do a search and see if anyone has the correct sight alignment tool for your gun to borrow. With the tool, you can test fire and make small adjustments with gacking your sights. And, if they're tritiums, you don't want to ruin those.
