PX4 .40 Quality

I manged to hold a PX4 .40 the other day and was surprised at how great it felt and the overall quality of the trigger. I wanted to know how you guys felt about its overall quality with trigger and material. Also is this able to be shipped back to have it turned into a decocker model? Is the rotating barrel piece very effective in taming recoil? I normally don't stray to far from Glock/Sig or the occasional XD but I don't mind spending the money to try this one.

Latest gun mags have some extensive reviews. Go to borders and read up on it...3 magazines have coverage on it or at least the compact.

Yea I heard a online magazine review but it was in .45 (the one caliber I'd prefer but not on DOJ list), and they seemed to love it. I only got to hold it for a few minutes at the store but liked what I saw! They prefered I didn't dry fire it do I didn't get to gauge the DA/SA pull.

I have the px4 in .40 and its been a stellar gun. Its kicks less than my sigpro in the same caliber, rotating barrel? Go to berettaforum.net and under the stickys, it shows you how to "G" it yourself, I did it and I am not mech. inclined.

Yea I mean its not replacing my Glock or Sig Sauer but I love Beretta's. I only wish we could get the .45 here. Since I only have 9mm's I'm going a step up with this one to a .40.

Yea I realize there's probably guides to fixing it to be decocker only. But does Beretta offer services to modify or install parts like that? I'd rather not void the warranty or give them a reason to refuse fixing it if I ever had to turn it in. The light rail decent? When I picked it up I should have looked.

Shot the PX4 last week and loved it, the felt recoil compared to my G23 G22 was comparatively low and smooth. The ergo's on that thing were amazing and I was oh so accurate with it.

Might be my next pistol purchase.

I've had mine since June of '09 and it's been a real champ. Initially I had some problems with limp wristing it. It likes to be kept pretty wet and special attention should be paid to lubing the locking block. The trigger will be gritty at first and some folks have reported trigger slap in cold weather.
With over 3,000 rounds through mine, I love it!

I just sold one of these yesterday and it seemed like a great gun. Good feel with excellent Beretta quality. Plus, it was only $510 out the door! That customer was happy!

It was my first handgun purchase and mine now has 1700 flawless mixed rounds 4 camping trips and over 20 fishing trips under its belt.. The adjustable ergos and beretta name is what drew me to it the smooth recoil and accuracy are what made me buy it... The price makes it one of if not the best polymer framed da/sa gun available... As far as turning it into a G model if you must have it either buy it or diy I wouldn't pay to have it done.. Just flick it back up to fire when you decock and carry it takes all of a half a second???

I may just have to see around for a PPT on a G model. But yea I hate safeties, there pointless in my opinion and I dont want to have to flick anything for the gun to function. I'm just so used to my sigs and the decocker that I dont want to mess with a safety model. But its good to hear its damn durable!

Those pictures helped! They wouldn't even let me charge the slide a couple times to see the actual action of the rotating barrel! In any case though, do those front slide serrations actual work well for press checks?

I usually have to do it differently on my Sig or cock the hammer then do it since most of the first part is just the slide pressing back the hammer. Or does it work rather well with them?

I've found the slide serrations to be damn near useless on mine. The finish is very slick and the serrations aren't very deep. I suppose it depends on your hand strength. The front serrations are actually harder to grip than the rear ones.

Haha good to know now. Yea the one I held that finish was damn slick and hold to hold on to.
