    backround check

Can someone fnd out if I own a firearm?

For instance..if I'm moving into a place that doesn't allow firearms..will it show on the backround that I own one??

I'm asking because my father just turned into a senior citizen and is moving into a gvernment assisted old folks apartment complex.

Housing authority housing of los angeles performs backround checks on all tenants/applicants.

Will they see he has a firearm?

Will it matter even though they aren't in his immediate possesion?

Say he keeps them locked in a safe at a relatives house

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But when they run a background check, don't they just look for crminal background like when they run you on the NICCS system when buying a gun. It doesn't say what you own as far as firearms. Only law enforcement can call it in to check for firearms under your name. What if you are applying for a job. Could they or would that be part of a companies FBI background check on you.

Depending on the depth of the background check, there is a good possibility that firearms ownership will be revealed.

If the terms of the agreement say no firearms ownership, then it's no firearms ownership. You have to read the fine print in order to find out what requirements are.

They shouldn't deny a person residency based on ownership of a firearm. We are protected by the U.S. Constitution.

Its not like pets, or waterbeds...

But from my experience, background checks usually run credit scores, evictions, arrest records, and DMV records.

          They shouldn't, but they can.

          Private property, not protected.

Actually, just re read the "gov't assisted".

Do they own the property, or just help pay the rent?

            Pistols probably, rifles probably not.
